Jarmean
Jarmean? [ jahr-meen ] 1. A slang contraction of the phrase, "Do you know what I mean?" 2. Popular beat entertainers - ukulele, tuba, drums, horns and vocals; up-beat bitter-sweet music. Fugitives from their home world of Babylon-don; Jarmean? emerged from the Whitechapel underground at the beginning of 2008. They are underground vaudeville anarchists – imagine punk if it had been played 100 years ago with a line-up of tuba, ukulele, horns, sax, clarinet and drums… Wonderfully old fashioned in a way that could only be British - Jarmean are skanking rag time and 20′s jazz that tickle the fancy like no other.
Since forming in January 2008, they have become a regular act on the London Scene and have established themselves as favourites on the Burlesque circuit performing for Lost Vagueness, London Burlesque Festival and Raison D'Etre. Bigger events include Jazz Cafe the launch London Beefeaters Gin, Syon House and Electric Picnic Festival in Ireland.
